Description

During the pandemic, percussionists Brian Rosenworcel and Daniel Freedman forged a unique bond while hiking and experimenting with rhythm on forest trees. Through these sessions, they found therapeutic solace in music and crafted sounds from unusual objects, keeping their spirits high during lockdown.

Their deepening friendship led to the formation of Howl Percussion, a mini-group focused on the essence of rhythm at the core of each track. “It’s a strange way to build a foundation—often without harmonic elements—but we knew we could enlist our musical friends to explore where these beats wanted to go,” they reflect. This willingness to embrace the unknown resulted in a rich sonic canvas, allowing them to experiment with various tempos, moods, and styles.

From this collaboration emerged Secrets in the Air, a captivating cinematic score infused with movement, excitement, action, and mischief. Perfect for heist scenes, car chases, or the backdrop for a confident hero, this sample pack features an eclectic collection of drums, world percussion, brass, and horns. Expertly recorded and diverse, it offers samples suitable for any production, score, video game soundtrack, or sync placement that requires energy infused with a hint of mystery.

Daniel Freedman is a master rhythmic catalyst, bringing a wide-ranging imagination to his craft, with influences spanning swinging jazz, deep-rooted blues, and diverse traditions from Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. His journey includes a vibrant early career at Smalls Jazz Club in NYC, performances on Broadway in David Byrne’s “American Utopia,” and contributions to the film directed by Spike Lee.

Brian Rosenworcel has been a creative force with his band Guster since the early ’90s. On their landmark 1999 album, Lost & Gone Forever, he showcased his eclectic hand drum kit, viewing his instruments as dynamic entities rather than mere rhythmic tools. As a lyricist, arranger, and songwriter, Brian’s vision extends beyond drumming, and he continues to tour globally with Guster.

Together, their journey and collaboration in Secrets in the Air offer a rich, vibrant resource for any creative endeavor, infusing projects with rhythmic energy and a sense of adventure.
