Musicians and sound artists Krishna Jhaveri and Sanaya Ardeshir (aka Sandunes) embarked on a transformative 30-day expedition across South India, capturing the vibrant soundscapes of Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Armed with field recorders, they journeyed through farms, forests, and plantations to document the land’s rich biodiversity.
From the rhythmic mating calls of birds to the alarm signals of wildlife and the circadian melodies of nature, this unique collection celebrates South India’s thriving ecosystems. These immersive soundscapes—alive with the voices of various species—showcase the untamed beauty and interconnectedness of nature.
Collaborating with producer Parimal Shais, known for documenting traditional South Indian instruments, the team added an authentic human touch to this collection. Shais recorded horns, drums, strings, percussion, and vocal elements to complement the natural sounds, bridging the gap between culture and environment.
