The Lavta is a traditional plucked string instrument originating from Istanbul, known for its distinctive craftsmanship and its role in Turkish classical and folk music. It shares similarities with the oud but has a smaller body, a longer neck, and more frets that accommodate the quarter-tone notes required in makam music.
